Hexabot claimed to have developed a complex new trading bot which could generate consistent profit in all trading environments. Online promotions included high level information about the trading strategy, which included usage of several common trading industry terms. Users who signed up would deposit funds and be given the option of 3 different trading strategies, which would each produce different returns. It appears that the website paid out withdrawals reliably from it's launch in October through November 4th 2017, after which point there were reported glitches on the website where withdrawals failed. The end of the service was officially announced on December 7th as being due to a hack taking the bitcoin balances. There is no indication that the service came back online after this point. The total amount of funds lost is unknown.
This is a global/international case not involving a specific country.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
About Hexabot.top
"Hexabot will help you to trade faster and more accurately in the cloud" "No software installation required. Bots run on our servers" "Professional automated system. Complex algorithms of artificial intelligence. You have total control over your funds."
"Hexabot is a professional automatic system (sophisticated algorithms of artificial intelligence) designed to help the manager or private trader work at the exchange as efficiently as possible. Control the financial markets and look for opportunities to buy or sell assets to make profit.
Trading on crypto-exchanges is very profitable today. Many traders trade manually, but this approach requires spending a lot of time and keeping a very large amount of data under control. By trading manually we miss a lot of opportunities to earn here. Even if you trade by signals and enter the right moments, it is rather difficult to foresee when it is worth closing the position - to issue a warrant for the sale of the previously purchased cryptocurrency."
"The Hexabot is the collective brainchild of the Option Alpha trading Community. There are so many unique ideas that we pulled out of other shared templates to create the Hexabot. We studied monitors and scanners from popular templates to find what we could add and optimize in the Hexabot.
It took a really long time. We deliberately went through a planning and research phase and an ideation phase. Then, we did more testing and research. Finally, we started building.
Of course, we'll continue refining this template and look for opportunities to improve it. We've already updated the version a few times, correcting and simplifying items based on members’ feedback."
"We identified six market environments and outlined how we wanted the bot to trade within each of those trends.
Strong uptrend: Ticker is above long-term SMA, above short-term SMA, and short-term SMA is above long-term SMA Uptrend: Ticker is above long-term SMA, above short-term SMA, and short-term SMA is below long-term SMA Weak uptrend: Ticker is above long-term SMA but below short-term SMA Strong downtrend: Ticker is below long-term SMA, below short-term SMA, and short-term SMA is below long-term SMA Downtrend: Ticker is below long-term SMA, below short-term SMA, and short-term SMA is above long-term SMA Weak downtrend: Ticker is below long-term SMA but above short-term SMA"
"We truly hope you loved reading this summary and the Hexabot’s history. This Community is an incredibly special place and this template demonstrates the power of the wicked smart traders we have the pleasure of working with here at Option Alpha. This has been a really fun bot to build."
"We will never delay your payments, withdrawals are as fast as one mouse click! We respect your time and money, just watch live result of automatic trading Hexabot"
"I came across Hexabot about a week ago. At the time I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as HYIPs and that they were scams. I legitimately thought it was a bot so I invested quite a substantial amount to see what I could get.
Afterwards I started doing some math and realized just how ridiculous the returns they promised were. 2% per day risk-free? 134,940% per year? That sounds too good to be true. So I started googling and found out all about HYIPs. At this point I started getting a little scared so I decided to pull my money out.
That said, when I decided to pull out, there didn't seem to be anything scammy about it. I simply withdrew my funds, sent them to my wallet and that was that. No delays, no questions, very clean. I even made a sizeable return on that initial investment.
So I decided to keep a little in it for now, but have withdrawn the majority of my money just to avoid any major risks."
Hexabot.top & chain.group both exit scams both high yield products 2FA very legit looking sites that both went poof
"Shortly after Hexabot’s Swing Bot paid out on Monday, December 4, 2017, Hexabot became a target of a Layer 7 Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) “HTTP” Flood Attack. This hack caused Bitcoins to become stolen both intentionally and accidentally from Hexabot’s wallets, triggered a glitch where all users received 6 to 11 free Bitcoins in their withdraw wallet, and eventually forced the site and its community chat to be taken offline indefinitely."
"Peter most likely soon realized that Hexabot was the target of an intential DDOS “HTTP” Flood Attack. In layman’s terms, someone attempted to hack Hexabot by flooding the Bitcoin withdrawal URL with multiple simultaneous requests from multiple accounts and caused Hexabot to payout double, triple, or even quadruple transactions to the withdrawer when it was only supposed to payout the amount once."
"Dreemusa, a Hexabot user who’s also an experienced programmer commented,
“It overloaded the daemon – I am positive that it actually did happen. The website sent me double my withdraw in two different transactions, but didnt register the transactions on the website database. His code wasn’t good at error conditioning.”"
"Now when users tried to withdraw, they will see a red popup that says “Error! You don’y have any active deposits.”"
"As the dust settled in the hours and days after the site stopped working, FUD and conspiracy theories spread like a plague amongst Hexabot’s users. Some even contemplated suicide or how it was the end of the world. The Unofficial Hexabot Community ballooned to over 1,200 members as Hexabot users from across the globe demanded answers and their crypto funds back or simply wanted a place to cry their tears of sadness.
Many users visciously attacked Peter Shepherd for being a brilliant exit scam artist and called for his immediate persecution. Some rallied to collect funds to start a class action lawsuit. Some even called for individuals in the Dark Web to dox and/or cause physical harm to Peter Shepherd and his affiliates."
"Peter, a one-man developer, has to fix a broken database that governs over 3,000 BTC belonging to hundreds of thousands of users. That’s over $40 million dollars USD he has to sort out to make sure users get the right amount back and account for the lost coins.
Peter took the site down today to prevent new sign ups and “is stressing” to fix everything. He has not announced any ETA on when the fix will be done but most likely it will take awhile."
"You should never invest money you are not prepared to lose in cryptocurrency.
Many of the individuals that cried crocodile tears and FUD proved that many people in Hexabot are gamblers, not investors that did proper risk assessment. Those that took out critical life savings to gamble should have no one to blame but themselves even if Hexabot was going to truly exit scam.
You need to diversify to minimize risks."
