Welcome to the largest global repository of cryptocurrency scams, hacks, and frauds in the world, which anyone can contribute to. Our goal is to merge all the separate repositories and lists for various hack, scam, and fraud events in the cryptocurrency space, combining together every source of information on both major and minor events. This makes it easier to conduct research into best security practices for individuals and firms, effective policy decisions for regulators, and what procedures make sense when things go wrong.
Together we can prevent a lot of needless human suffering. Human suffering is bad.
Access Case Studies
Case studies are all free to access. You can search up a case using the search bar. The following organized lists are also available of relevant case studies.
Global List of All Cases - Here is a list of all case studies which have presently been completed. Some presently exist in the old website system, and have not yet been migrated over to the wiki format.
Centralized Exchange Cases - Here is a list of all case studies involving scams, hacks, and frauds on centralized exchange platforms. Cases in this category have to do with centralized custodial exchanges, or entities that claimed to allow you to buy or sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
All Smart Contract Cases - Here is a list of all case studies involving scams, hacks, and frauds involving smart contracts.
List of Case Study Lists - This list page features even more lists that organize cases into particular categories which may be useful for more detailed research or analysis.
Random Case Study Page - Find a random case study which you can learn about or contribute to.
How to Contribute
This is an open wiki that anyone can contribute to. If you are new, here are some places you can get started:
Anatomy of a Case Study - Read about the general format of articles and how they should be structured.
List of Known Case Issues - Go here for a list of case studies with known problems that you can help tackle. Depending on your background, you should find issues that you can tackle more easily.
Current Case Study Leads - Go here for a list of case study leads to follow up on. Leads are websites, articles, or names of events which have information that likely hasn't yet been included in the repository. As you conduct research, you'll likely come across more sources and incidents than you can investigate, so feel free to add some more material here for someone else to follow up on.
Recently Modified Cases - Go here to see which cases/pages have been most recently changed and should be reviewed.
Random Case Study Page - Find a random case study which you can learn about or contribute to.
Adding New Cases
To help expand the repository, see these sections:
Process For Adding New Cases - The full process for how new cases get added to the wiki.
Criteria for Case Inclusion - We have some basic criteria for what gets an article and what doesn't. Be sure to read this guide before adding any new articles.
Known Case Repositories - Other sources online which often contain list of events that can be studied and merged into the wiki as leads.
Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software.
