SYDNEY SWEENEY

DESCRIPTION OF EVENTS

"Sydney Bernice Sweeney (born September 12, 1997) is an American actress. She first gained attention in 2018 for appearing in the television series Everything Sucks! and The Handmaid's Tale, and in the limited series Sharp Objects. In the following year, she was featured in the Quentin Tarantino-directed film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Sweeney gained wider recognition for her roles in the HBO drama series Euphoria (2019–present) and the first season of the anthology series The White Lotus (2021), which earned her nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2023, she portrayed Reality Winner in the drama film Reality and led the commercially successful romantic comedy Anyone but You. In 2024, she starred in the superhero film Madame Web, and produced and starred in the horror film Immaculate."

"Shortly after 2:00 pm ET on Tuesday, Sweeney’s account began rapid-fire posting a slew of tweets about a newly created Pump.fun meme coin called SWEENEY, claiming the token was an official offering from the Euphoria and White Lotus star."

"despite clear signs that the posts were likely fraudulent—the latest in a string of meme coin-focused Twitter hacks targeting celebrities—crypto traders nonetheless poured a startling $13 million into the token within less than an hour."

"The hacker jeeted the coin once it reached 4mm."

"Within an hour, Sweeney appeared to reclaim her Twitter account, deleting all references to the token. She has yet to make a public statement regarding the hack."

"The plot then thickened, when the creators of the Sweeney token’s Telegram account openly admitted to hacking her account—and further claimed responsibility for hacking other celebrities including 50 Cent and Hulk Hogan."

"Decrypt has not been able to verify claims that the hacks were connected. Attempts to contact Sweeney’s purported hackers have as of yet been unsuccessful."

"The hackers have already moved on to their next gambit. In their Telegram channel, they bragged that they plan to soon hack another celebrity, one even “more popular” than Sweeney—and that clever crypto traders could get in on the ground floor of the token with a presale, if only they trustingly sent at least 5 SOL (worth $762 at writing) to an anonymous Solana wallet."

"Community (a bunch of simps) saw the potential in the coin and took over, hence the CTO."

Sydney Sweeney is a famous American actress with a long career. Her Twitter account got hacked for a second time in July 2024, and posted a series of tweets promoting a cryptocurrency named $SWEENEY. Many bought in even though they knew the account was hacked and the anonymous developer was dumping their tokens on the community. After an hour, Sydney removed the tweets and the token price plummeted. The community has since taken over the token and is attempting a relaunch.
