"Bought my 1st BTC in 2016. Been through plenty of ups and downs."
"CeFi: BTC, ETH, and MATIC on Celsius; and BTC on Hodlnaut and Blockfi. DFI Hardware wallet DFI/BTC LM Pair Harmony ONE staked on chain Staking ALGO 3commas multiple DCA trading bots That about covers it. Used to do defi on Matic but was to much to keep track of. So just consolidated down to this at the moment."
"I do both [crypto and stocks]. Mostly because while I have had bigger gains in crypto long term, stocks give me ability to easily play options. I make instant fiat with "safer" options plays, gains get invested into BTC. If I could easily do options on crypto I probably would, but most if not all exchanges that do options are blocked in the US. In regards to TA, many claim that patterns are similar. I am no master, but crypto is way more volatile, and it seems timing it is more difficult."
"[I also have a property which] is generating positive cash flow, so even if the price were to drop, as long as it is rented I am making money. I am in an area that rents are stable, and currently rented out below market rates and still in profit. I also make money on the tax write off, so yes I will hold onto the property, would not make any sense not to."
"I don't know how it happened but somehow my wallet just decided to send out 1 ETH to some random wallet address. Doesn't show up on activity by I found it on Etherscan. So my issue is I have funds on Polygon and don't know how I can safely send them back to Ethereum network. If I make a new wallet address will that prevent this? Or if I connect a hardware wallet will that keep my funds from getting swiped when I transfer over? Not having a good night but hoping I can at least find a way to safely get my funds out of Polygon network when I need to. Any ideas????"
"My wife is German" "I trained Iraqis in 2005 and 2009." "I got medically discharged [from the army] 5 years ago, after 13 years of service."
"As Someone who did defi for awhile, and now have majority of crypto in cold wallet or CeFi, I can say some of my reasons. Hacking, there have been several hacks that have lost people lots of funds. Are funds Safu, getting rugged is a risk even after DYOR. Even without malicious intent still remember Titan coin?"
"Banks and the government want you to spend your money. Saving is actively discouraged. Crypto solves this issue, so of course they try to block it. Useless to keep printing if the people don't "inject" it back into the economy."
"Yes, there is no such thing as 0 risk, but as you said, that hack had no effect on my existing funds. However, Celsius did recently drop some interest rates on BTC amounts, which I imagine is tied to the loss. Blockfi dropped rates after they sent people too much BTC. My solution was simply move funds to Hodlnaut.
At the end of the day it's about managing risk, and managing time. Blockfi is insured to some extent, Celsius is too, but I am a little sceptical of them, so even with cefi I have funds spread out."
"Depends on your risk tolerance of course. defi can provide much higher returns but there is more risk. Safer way is simply depositing BTC into Celsius. They pay 6.3% annual rate, but pay out weekly. Which allows for compound growth. The majority of my BTC is there earning in kind BTC weekly, and payouts have been great. Basically auto DCA for me."
"Holding matic for a while got some staked earning 8.99% slow and steady wins the race."
"I went to 1hive(.)io honeycomb, looked real sus but I didn't connect my wallet. But. A few minutes later I was robbed" "I still need to know [what] happened to prevent a repeat"
"I did not give out my seed phrase or password. There is no know virus but I will keep scanning. I sent ETH over matic bridge and then it came back and got sent to some wallet that I didn't sent at all. The activity is not on my metamask activity log, but I saw it on my zapper log. Which is how I found the txid on etherscan. Whole bunch of ETH zipped out. I wrote a support ticket because either metamask or zapper have an exploit."
"Is it permanent control. I still have matic on polygon and doesn't seem that they can get those for now, but tomorrow morning I will start moving the new wallet address, or don't touch it until ledger gets in"
"the fact [MetaMask doesn't] 2fA is ridiculous. That's what caught me off guard, everything else I use has 2FA, it's BS and polygon is limited to wallets I can use so stuck with meta for a little longer"
"Hardware wallet, get one and don't look back. I learned the hardway" "if you are going to do anything using something like metamask wallet get a ledger nano x or something similar. You need a hardware wallet for safety. I don't want to see more people lose their funds."
"Having a hard wallet connected to your metamask will require that every single transaction you do you will need to key in your code. So we'll make it more difficult for somebody to take control of metamask and just take the funds out. And yes you can do everything like normal using daps etc it's just every time you do a transaction you will have to enter in your key code. So it's an extra layer of protection"
"As far as are there any ways to still get scammed, theoretically it's possible. If you gave someone your seed phrase for the hardware wallet that would do it. There may be other ways. But using a hardware wallet would put up a firewall that would require a hacker to get through and as long as you were smart it would protect you much more than not having it."
Veteran and crypto, stock, and real estate investor echodelta79 found that their MetaMask wallet was emptied out of a whole ethereum. Fortunately, the thief didn't also take their Polygon. They now have a hardware wallet.
